A: Providing a credit card at check-in allows us to register you into our system, opens a credit account on your room and serves security purposes. Once registered you may charge items to your room such as food and drinks and pay for them later. When hiring items that require a deposit (such as hairdryers) you will not be asked to leave a deposit. The card’s details are encrypted into our system, and no charge will be taken without prior authorization. Upon Check-Out, the card’s details are deleted from the system. If a credit card is not provided upon check-in, the room’s credit is blocked and all transactions will have to be paid as they occur.
Q: When will the Pre-Authorization be returned? (Security deposit)
A: On Check-In a Preauthorization of your card is required. This blocks an amount from your card to cover any pending bills or damages to your apartment during your stay. It is important to note that the funds are never taken from your card, they are simply put on hold. 24 hours after check out, we process a release of this hold. Once we release or cancel this preauthorization it is up to the card issuer or bank to unblock the funds. This normally takes approximately 7-14 working days, however certain banks/card issuers can take as much as 4-6 weeks to unblock these funds. If the hold is still visible on your account we can provide you proof that we released the funds, so that you can contact your card issuer / bank to release the hold. You may contact us on reservations@lhcmalta.com.
